I used to work in a retirement home and there was this really nice sweet lady who always asked how my day had been and cared about everyone. once she was asked about her late husband and she pointed towards the ground and said he was in his place. they asked her if he was "in heaven" now and she replied with a sweet smile and said he was in hell baking for his sins because he had cheated on her in 1955. She stayed married to him., she just hated his guts until his demise and lived on for half a century to tell everyone he was a cheating bastard. She pictured him in hell. That was really impressive to me for some reason.

The grandpa of my wife had alzheimers. He often got up at night and started running through the neighbourhood because he thought he was a soldier in WWII again. When we found him and tried to bring him back home he refused and shouted something like "No, I have to help out the pioneers! They NEED me!" It got worse and worse, we had to give him in an assisted living with other alzheimer patients. In my city they test the old air-raid sirens now and then to blow out pollution. Damn, I didn't envy the nurses in this home on these days… All the old people there forgot more and more of themselves and their lifes, but they never forgot about the horrors of war. Long story short, what I'm trying to say is that the oldest (and in this case also the most imprinting) memories are the one that stays the longest with the alzheimer patients. I guess her cheating husband must have bothered the lady in the post over a long time.

that's because nagging memories are not stored in women's brain, it's stored in their guts so Alzheimer won't make a thing to them
